A body discovered July 5 floating in the ocean north of the Indian River Inlet has been identified as 33-year-old Jeffrey King of Jordanville, NY.
According to the Delaware State Police, a boater traveling north of the Indian River inlet discovered the body floating in the water around 10 a.m. Law enforcement responded to the area and transported the body to the U.S. Coast Guard Station. Police said the body was then turned over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy was performed and the body was identified as King. Police said the cause of death was ruled accidental.
Police said King was reported missing on June 29 around 7:50 a.m. after emergency personnel responded to the area of the Delaware Seashore State Park for a possible drowning victim. Police said the agencies scoured the area for more than four hours in an attempt to locate King before the search concluded.
