Ruth Madeline (Willard) Wyatt (formerly Brittingham), resident of Milton, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, surrounded by her family. She was 88.
She was born the daughter of the late David & Mary Willard, of New Castle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Preston (Pete) Brittingham, in 1973; her second husband, James (Jim) Wyatt, in 1983; a son, Lloyd (Butch) Brittingham; and all her siblings.
Ruth worked her early years at Beebe Medical Center and Kent General Hospital as a nurses aide before becoming a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed her farm, cooking, quilting, word search puzzles and visits from her family.
Ruth was a past Superintendent and lifelong member of Goshen United Methodist Church in Milton and a past member of the Rebekah’s of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
A devoted mother and grandmother, she will be remembered by those who loved her. Survivors include a son, Preston (Dickie) Brittingham and wife Patricia, of Georgetown, and daughters, Rebecca (Becky) Tisher and husband James, of Ellendale; and Linda Hudson, of Milton, with whom she lived. Other to cherish her memory include; 5 grandchildren, Lisa Lofland, Mark Tisher, Tara Tisher, Kevin Brittingham and Scott Hudson; and 9 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, with visitation after 12:00pm. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.
