The Nanticoke Post 6 Patriots fell to 2-15 over the weekend after dropping both games of a doubleheader against Delvets Post 1 on Saturday, July 6.
In Game One, Post 6 took an early 3-0 lead bringing 9 batters to the plate in the second inning. Delvets Post 1 grabbed the lead after a 5-run fourth inning to go ahead 6-3. Nanticoke’s seventh inning rally fell short and they dropped Game One 6-4.
Anthony Jefferson went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and 3 stolen bases in the loss. Bruce Mosely added an RBI and 2 stolen bases, while John Keefe batted in the remaining run for Post 6.
In Game Two, Post 6 would fall again to Delvets Post 1 5-4 in a seesaw battle. Tied at 3 after the fifth inning, Delvets Post 1 scored 2 runs in the top-half of the sixth inning to take a 5-3 lead into the seventh and final inning.
After getting within a run and putting the tying run on base, Post 6 was unable to make the late comeback.
Kole Hearn and Eric Willey combined to go 4-for-6 with an RBI in the losing effort. Anthony Jefferson and John Keefe both had RBI’s for the Patriots.
Post 6 will return to the diamond on Thursday when they travel to Milford to take on Post 3, first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
This weekend, the Patriots have 3 games on the schedule facing Stahl Post 30 and Durney Post 27. Post 6 will host Stahl Post 30 on Saturday, first pitch scheduled for noon. On Sunday, the Patriots face Durney Post 27 in a doubleheader at Seaford High School, Game One starts at noon, with Game Two to follow at 3:00 p.m.
