  • The following action was taken at the July 1 Millsboro Town Council meeting:
    >> Reorganization of the council – The Town of Millsboro held its municipal election on June 8. Incumbent Tim Hodges was reelected. Councilman John Thoroughgood’s term also expired this year, but he was unopposed in the election. During the July 1 council reorganization, Bob Bryan was reappointed as mayor, John Thoroughgood as vice mayor, Greg Hastings as secretary, Michelle Truitt as treasurer and Tim Hodges as president pro-tem.
    >> Conditional use renewal – Delaware Hospice Inc. on Old Landing Road submitted an application for conditional use to continue locating a storage shed on its property. The application was unanimously approved by the council.
    >> Rental committee appointment – Because Councilwoman Irene Keenan asked to be removed from the town rental committee, Councilman Greg Hastings was appointed to the committee by Mayor Bob Bryan.
    >> Mediacom – A renewed 15-year franchise agreement with cable provider Mediacom was approved by the council, with five councilmembers voting in favor of the renewal and one, Jim Petruzella, abstaining. Assistant Town Manager Matt Schifano said a public comment period was advertised by the town, and two residents responded.
    >> Millwood Expansion – A request from Mark Prata of Millwood Acquisitions LLC to extend the time on an approval for the preliminary plan of the Millwood Expansion was unanimously approved by the council. That approval expired on July 4. Prata cited a “lingering slump/slow recovery in the housing market” as the reason for the request.
