  • A 51-year-old Georgetown woman was arrested July 11 after she allegedly attempted to leave Walmart with a shopping cart filled with merchandise valued around $2,500.
    According to the Georgetown Police Department, the incident occurred on July 10. Police were summoned to the Georgetown Walmart for the report of a female subject that attempted to leave the store about $2,500 worth of merchandise in a shopping cart. Police said the woman fled the store when approached by employees. Police said the employees were able to obtain the woman’s vehicle registration, leading them to Theresa McTeer.
    Police said McTeer was taken into custody by the Seaford Police Department on an unrelated incident and turned over to the GPD. McTeer was charged with felony shoplifting and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of bond.
