A 73-year-old woman and her 41-year-old son, both of Millsboro, are facing various drug-related charges following a July 12 sting on Willow Lane.
The Delaware State Police said the arrests are the culmination of a three-month drug investigation into heroin and cocaine sales and distribution out of the Millsboro residence.
Police said a search warrant was executed and the occupants of the residence – Rolando Ruiz, Margarita Ruiz and 25-year-old Shannon O. Irving of Frankford – were taken into custody without incident. Police said they found 1,028 bags of suspected heroin totaling 25.7 grams and valued at about $10,000; 14.45 grams of suspected powered cocaine valued at about $500; digital scales allegedly used to weigh drugs; and hypodermic needles. Police said they also located $8,127 in cash indicative of being obtained through street level drug transactions.
Rolando and Margarita Ruiz face numerous charges, including possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Rolando Ruiz was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $94,000 cash bond. Margarita Ruiz was released after posting $20,000 cash bond.
Irving was issued a criminal summons on two counts of drug paraphernalia and was released pending arraignment.
