DELAWARE SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL
TWO GENTS OF VERONA opened last weekend, on a beautiful summer night staged in the pastoral back yard of Rockwood Mansion. A high energy, enthused and talented cast. Colorful, atmospheric costumes a la Boardwalk Empire. Inspired dancing. Bring a blanket and sit up front or a chair and a bit further back. Oh, don't forget a picnic. But if you do, the accomodating staff will sell you one. Full review to follow.

NEW CANDLELIGHT THEATRE
FOREVER PLAID opened last weekend as well. It's a sad but eventually uplifting tale of 4 crooners, The Plaids, who are racing to their finest performance when rear ended by a bus and killed. They return from their limbo in purgatory and sing for us harmonizing ditties such as "Three Coins In A Fountain", "Perdidia" and "Love Is A Many Splendored Thing". One of the best set designs that NCT has had. Full review to follow.

ANNIE GET YOUR GUN at Longwood Gardens open air theatre. Irving Berlin's only Broadway show premiering the immortal "There's No Business Like Show Business". Add to that one of the all time engaging duets, "Anything You Can Do". (Frank Butler): "Can you bake a pie?"(Annie Oakley) "Well, neither can I!"
The year was 1932. DuPont scion Chick Laird asked his uncle, P.S. du Pont, if he could use his outdoor theatre to stage a show. P.S. assented and a tradition was born.
Opens July 25 for two weekends. Brandywiners.org 478.3355
