A 25-year-old woman and her 17-month-old daughter fell victim to a home invasion on July 16 in Long Neck.
According to the Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 1:15 p.m. as two male suspects entered the residence on Lingo Drive. Police said the woman, who was home alone with her daughter, was confronted by the men, who demanded cash. Police said the woman was unable to comply with the suspects’ demands so one of them struck her in the face. Police said the suspects removed a handgun located in a bedroom before fleeing the residence toward Enchanted Acres Mobile Home Park. Police said the woman did not require medical attention.
Police scoured the area but were unable to locate the suspects. Police have determined through a preliminary investigation that this was not a random act, and the victim may have been targeted in the home invasion.
One suspect is described as a white male, 20 to 25 years of age, wearing a white T-shirt and shorts, with no displayed weapon. The second suspect, who struck the woman, is described as a light-skinned black male, 20 to 25 years of age, wearing a dark colored T-shirt, with no displayed weapon.
