A 42-year-old Georgetown man is facing drug charges after he allegedly caused a crash July 16 in Millsboro.
According to the Delaware State Police, the accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. as Dwayne J. Karr was operating a 2005 Kia Sedona eastbound on Zoar Road east of Morris Road when he crossed the center line into the westbound lanes. Police said 16-year-old Zachary C. Ritter of Millsboro was operating a 2003 Dodge Ram truck westbound on Zoar Road approaching the Sedona when he took evasive action by moving to the left into the eastbound lanes. However, the Sedona moved back into the eastbound lane and struck the truck head-on.
Police said Karr was airlifted to Christiana Medical Center where he was listed in fair condition. Ritter was transported to Beebe Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident; however impairment on behalf of Karr appears to be a factor and charges are pending. Police said a search of Karr’s vehicle revealed 260 bags of heroin and $1,500 in suspected drug proceeds.
