Police are seeking information regarding a hit and run crash near Frankford that sent a bicyclist to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to the Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 6:40 a.m. on July 16 as 38-year-old Wayne Thomas Blanks Jr. of Baltimore, Md. was bicycling eastbound on the shoulder of Omar Road, just west of West Road. Police said a vehicle that has yet to be identified was also traveling eastbound on Omar Road when its passenger side mirror struck Blanks from behind. Police said Blanks was thrown from the bicycle and into a wooded area southeast of the roadway. The vehicle continued eastbound and failed to stop.
Blanks was flown to Christiana Medical Center where he was listed in fair condition. His bicycle was equipped with a rear light that was set to flash.
