A 62-year-old woman and her 39-year-old son were arrested Aug. 17 for selling alcoholic beverages from their Georgetown home.
According to the Delaware Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement, undercover agents made several alcohol purchases from the Ebony Street home. A search of the residence revealed that Nicasia Chavez Reyes and Faustino Santizo Perez were also allegedly operating an unlicensed convenience store and restaurant. Officials said several large commercial style coolers containing various beverages, metal shelving containing various foods, as well as pharmaceutical items and cooked food were located in the home. Officials said agents seized a large amount of beer and $34,900 in cash. The Georgetown Police Department assisted DATE with the search and the state Division of Public Health was notified.
Reyes and Perez were charged with selling alcohol without a license, illegal storage of alcohol and carrying on an unlicensed business. Reyes was released on $1,500 unsecured bail and Perez was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $1,500 secured bail.
