  • Two men were recently arrested after they were connected to several burglaries in the western Sussex County area.
According to the Delaware State Police, several daytime residential burglaries have been under investigation since May. Items taken during these burglaries include electronics, firearms, jewelry and cash. Police said evidence recovered at the scene of one burglary resulted in the Aug. 12 arrest of 28-year-old Christopher J. Stoe of Laurel. Police said Stoe has been linked to more than 40 burglaries, some dating back to 2012. Police said in many of the burglaries, Stoe was driven to and from the scene by 28-year-old James E. Passwaters of Bridgeville, who was arrested Aug. 19.
Stoe has been charged with 147 offenses related to the burglaries and is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $216,000 secured bail. Passwaters has been charged with 138 offences and is being held at SCI on $40,200 secured bail.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and more charged are anticipated.
