Two Laurel men were arrested in Millsboro Aug. 21 following a traffic stop that yielded drugs and guns.
According to the Delaware State Police, a silver Chrysler Concord was observed committing a moving violation around 4:30 p.m. on Long Neck Road. A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of a business immediately south of the intersection with Shoppes of Long Neck Boulevard. Police said it was determined that neither the driver, nor the two passengers had valid driver’s licenses. Additionally, the driver, 22-year-old Michael A. Lowe, was wanted on an active warrant. Lowe was taken into custody and found to be in possession of 18 Oxycodone pills and $243. Police had the rear seat and front seat passengers exit the vehicle. Police said when the front seat passenger, 23-year-old Klin C. Gootee, exited the vehicle, he quickly picked up a purple bag he had been sitting upon and stuffed it under the seat. Police said the bag contained a loaded .32 caliber revolver. Also under the seat was a loaded .22 caliber revolver with an obliterated serial number. Under the driver’s seat, police said they found a bag contained 5.33 grams of suspected marijuana and 13 bags, or .325 gram, of suspected heroin. Police said a search of Gootee resulted in the recovery of a bag containing 1.97 grams of suspected marijuana; an Oxycodone pill; 42 bags, or 1.05 grams, of suspected heroin; and $216.
Lowe and Gootee face several charges including possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. Lowe was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $71,525 cash bail, and Gootee on $57,000 cash bail.
