  • Two men were arrested Aug. 27 in Bethany Beach after they allegedly signed for a U.S. Postal Service package containing marijuana.
According to the Delaware State Police, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service examined a package containing a “significant” amount of marijuana that was to be delivered to the Cove Way residence of Danny Mutz, 39, of Bethany Beach. Police said detectives, with the assistance of the USPS, responded to the residence with the package and upon knocking on the door, made contact with 29-year-old Dennis Martinez of Lewes. Police said Martinez acknowledged the delivery by signing the acceptance form before police converged. Police said Martinez attempted to flee into the house but was quickly taken into custody without further incident. Police said Mutz surrendered without incident. Police said a search of the residence revealed 138.1 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, drug paraphernalia, over $900 in suspected drug proceeds and 2093.4 grams, or 4.61 pounds, of packaged marijuana.
Mutz and Martinez face numerous charges including possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession with intent to deliver hallucinogen mushrooms. Mutz and Martinez were released on $10,400 and $10,900 unsecured bond, respectfully.
