A 32-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, both of Georgetown, were arrested Aug. 29 after police found them to be in possession of hypodermic syringes and heroin.
According to the Georgetown Police Department, Ernest Doney and Joanna Wagner were observed by police around 11:30 p.m. sitting on a bench on E. Market Street, and they were slumped over. Police said they made contact with the two to ensure there was no type of medical emergency. Police said Doney and Wagner appeared intoxicated and disoriented. Police said Doney attempted to conceal a hypodermic syringe on his body. Police took Doney into custody following a brief struggle. While searching Wagner, police said they found a hypodermic syringe that contained suspected heroin in her purse and three small baggies containing suspected heroin in her pants pocket.
Doney was charged with delivery of a hypodermic syringe and resisting arrest. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of bond with a future court date. Wagner was charged with possession of heroin and delivery of a hypodermic syringe. She was committed to SCI in lieu of bond with a future court date.
