Milton artist Pamella Bounds-Seemans will display vintage and new pieces at the Millsboro Art League, beginning Saturday. The opening reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m.
The show, which runs through Sept. 30, honors Bounds-Seemans as the Art League's Artist of the Month. She'll be exhibiting new works while board member Debra Doucette will show off Bounds-Seemans' older works dating back to the '70s, from her family's personal collection.
"This show will illustrate how my work has evolved over the years," Bounds-Seemans said. "I think showing new and vintage works fits well with the Millsboro Art League and the town, which is known for its antique shops."
Bounds-Seemans is known for her acrylic paintings surrounded by collage borders and hand-painted frames. Her latest series will feature local scenes, flowers and sea life in her one-of-a-kind whimsical style.
Doucette developed the idea of displaying new and vintage works after her family inherited Bounds-Seemans' paintings from her mother-in-law, Joan Lomas, who lived in Milton. Doucette, a stained glass artist, likes Bounds-Seemans' artwork because she brings a different perspective to her paintings.
Art League board member Gerilyn Gaskill agreed.
"I love Pam's artwork because it expresses her personality and is nontraditional," Gaskill said. "The Millsboro Art League brings the arts to the community. We are committed to supporting local artists and are excited to exhibit Pam's work. Her artwork brings new life to the gallery and brings a sense of the different and avant-garde."
Bounds-Seemans received a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from Highlands University in Las Vegas, N.M. She's a Delaware Division of the Arts fellowship recipient and won Best Artist from Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Va. Her works are owned and displayed around the world.
The show is free and open to the public.
