  • Two Seaford residents were seriously injured in a Sept. 6 crash involving a tractor trailer on Seashore Highway in Georgetown.
According to the Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. as 29-year-old Michael Johnson was operating a 1999 Ford Contour east on Seashore Highway west of Vaughn Road when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle swerved into oncoming traffic, towards a 2007 Freightliner tractor trailer. Police said the driver of the tractor trailer, 57-year-old Daniel Jacobs, attempted to avoid a collision by swerving towards the right shoulder of the westbound lane. However, police said, the Contour, after crossing the center line in the roadway, struck the driver’s side of the trailer. It then spun several times and came to a rest off the roadway.
Michael Johnson and his passenger, 27-year-old Shalamar Johnson, were transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. Police said Shalamar Johnson was admitted with serious leg and internal injuries. Michael Johnson was flown to Christiana Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition with several injuries. Police said it is not known whether the two were properly restrained. Police said Jacobs was properly restrained and was not injured.
