Two men driving motorcycles in Millsboro were injured in a Sept. 5 crash on Hardscrabble Road.
According to the Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. as 61-year-old Stanley J. Grella of Bethany Beach was operating a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle and 75-year-old Gerald M. Townsend of Ocean View was operating a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Hardscrabble Road approaching Godwin School Road. Police said the motorcyclists were in a staggered riding position, with Grella closest to the center line and Townsend closest to the fog line. Police said as Grella began to turn right onto Godwin School Road, Townsend failed to notice and struck Grella’s motorcycle on the right side, ejecting both men from the bikes and onto the roadway.
Grella, who was not wearing a helmet, was flown to Christiana Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was cited for no proof of insurance. Townsend, also not wearing a helmet, was transported to Beebe Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. He was cited for inattentive driving.
