Sussex Tech Adult Division in Georgetown will start two new electrical courses in October.

The introduction to programmable logic controllers is a 60-hour course combining lecture and hands-on lab lessons. It will utilize Allen-Bradley software and cover PLC Electrical Safety, hardware, ladder logic theory, programming instructions, and troubleshooting the PLC system.

The class will be held from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays from Oct. 5-Dec. 7. The cost is $399.

The solar design and installation course is also 60 hours. Students are taught solar panel system design, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance from a North American Board of Certified Energy Practioners (NABCEP) certified instructor. This course is recognized as required training to become a participating contractor with the Delaware Green Energy Program as a solar installer.

The class will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday from Oct. 11-Nov. 30. The cost is $749.
