Large pumpkins freshly delivered from Fifer Orchards will be available at the Milton Farmers’ Market on Sept. 20 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and again on Sept. 27.
To receive a free pumpkin, bring a donation of nonperishable canned goods to the market on Union Street to help stock the Casa San Francisco homeless shelter’s food bank.
The pumpkins should be used to create jack-o-lanterns for the Second Annual Great Pumpkin Carve, held Oct. 4 at the Milton Farmers’ Market’s Oktoberfest 2013 at Dogfish Head Brewery in Cannery Village from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Carved masterpieces should be delivered to the market grounds at the brewery no later than 3:30 p.m. to be displayed for judging on three tables representing age groups of one to 13, 14 to 20, and 21 and up. Market patrons will receive tickets to cast votes for their favorite pumpkins as they browse and shop the more than 20 vendors. Winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m.
