Two people have been arrested and police are searching for a third suspect in connection to the Sept. 28 attempted robbery of the Oasis Travel Plaza gas station on Sussex Highway in Laurel.
According to the Delaware State Police, a black male subject entered the store around 1:50 a.m. and confronted a 31-year-old female employee, demanding money from the cash register. Police said when the employee refused to open the register the suspect reached across the counter and attempted to open it, but was unsuccessful. Police said the suspect then fled the store and was observed entering a silver four-door sedan, which fled the parking lot. At about 4:30 a.m., the Laurel Police Department responded to a robbery in their jurisdiction involving a similar subject.
Police said around 6 a.m., the silver sedan was spotted in a driveway on Mill Park Drive in Bridgeville. Police made contact with 50-year-old Anita M. Amorosa of Laurel at the residence and she was taken into custody without incident.
Police said an investigation revealed Amorosa drove two men, later identified as 33-year-old Shawn D. Alston and 29-year-old Troy Sanders, both of Bridgeville, to Oasis Travel Plaza and dropped them off. Police said she returned a short time later and then drove into the limits of Laurel where they committed another robbery.
Alston was located around 10 a.m. walking on Mill Park Drive and was taken into custody without incident.
Amorosa and Alston were charged with second degree attempted robbery and second degree conspiracy. They were incarcerated on $5,000 secured bond.
