A 47-year-old Seaford man was arrested Oct. 29 for allegedly using old receipts to obtain cash from the Georgetown Walmart.
According to the Georgetown Police Department, surveillance footage presented by Walmart’s asset protection department shows Rodney V. Hopkins entering the store, removing several items from shelves, presenting them with old receipts and receiving cash for the “returned” items. Police said this happened several times and on all the return receipts, Hopkins signed a fictitious name. Police said Hopkins has been arrested in the past for the same type of offenses and was issued a “no trespass” letter for any Walmart property.
Police said Hopkins was charged with several counts of use of illegitimate retail sales receipt, theft by false pretense and criminal trespass. He was released on an unsecured bond.
