  • The Sussex County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has several events coming up in the next month to benefits local animals in need of homes.
    The SPCA will hold three adoption events in November. The first is Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Concord Pet Food & Supplies, 135 Aerenson Drive in Milford. Adoptions events will also be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 17 and Nov. 23 at PetSmart, 26680 Centerview Drive in Millsboro.
    The 6th Annual Fenwick Island Turkey Trot Run/Walk will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 28. Participants are encouraged to dress up and bring their leashed pets for this 2.2 mile walk/run on Lewes Street, Oceanside, in Fenwick Island. After the event, participants are invited to the Pottery Place, 1500 Coastal Highway, for complimentary oatmeal and hot chocolate. There is no charge to participate, but cash donations and wish list items will be collected for the SPCA.
    Beach House Poker, 37156 Rehoboth Avenue Extended in Rehoboth Beach, will hold fundraiser blackjack and poker games for the SPCA from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 1.
    Anyone interested in becoming at volunteer for the Delaware SPCA at the Georgetown shelter should attend information sessions scheduled for Dec. 1 from 1 to 2 p.m. and Dec. 5 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. No registration is necessary.
