  • Georgetown man arrested for possession of gun, drugs

  • A 27-year-old Georgetown man was arrested Nov. 12 following a traffic stop during which he was found in possession of a gun and drugs.

  • A 27-year-old Georgetown man was arrested Nov. 12 following a traffic stop during which he was found in possession of a gun and drugs.
    According to the Georgetown Police Department, an officer observed Paul R. Edwards operating a motor vehicle on Cinder Way while talking on a cell phone. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle and Edwards led police on a brief vehicle pursuit that ended in the parking lot of the Georgetown Apartment Complex. Police said Edwards was taken into custody with no further incident. Police said a search of the vehicle yielded a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver loaded with five rounds, as well as a box of .38 caliber ammunition, which was hidden under the driver’s seat. Police said they also located a glass jar containing about 37 grams of marijuana, plastic baggies, 26 Naproxen pills and two digital scales.
    Edwards as charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, disregarding a police officer and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of bond with a future court date.
