A 40-year-old Long Neck man was arrested Nov. 20 after a traffic stop revealed he was in possession of marijuana.

According to the Georgetown Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle in which Frederick A. Sample was a passenger on N. Bedford Street for a traffic violation. Police said they could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. Police said a blue gym bag was located in the area where Sample was sitting, and he advised officers the bag belonged to him. A search of the bag revealed a cigarette box containing three suspected marijuana cigarettes and a clear plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana.

Sample was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a criminal summons with a future court date.
