Two men were arrested Dec. 6 while they were in the middle of burglarizing a Millsboro home, and one was connected to a dozen other area burglaries.
According to the Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. after police received two phone calls about two men inside of an unoccupied residence on the 62000 block of Bay Farm Road. Police said a trooper entered the residence’s backyard, which was surrounded by a locked fence, and found 31-year-old Dale Parker, of Elkton, Md., standing by the rear door of the home. Police said Parker was holding a stick that he had used as a pry tool. Police said Parker was taken into custody without incident. Police located the second burglar, 38-year-old Millsboro resident Alex Sczcytkowski, in a nearby parking lot. Police said the pair had stolen jewelry from the residence.
Police were able to link Sczcytkowski to 12 other residential burglaries that have occurred since September in the Millsboro and Long Neck areas.
Parker was charged with one count of burglary and related offenses and was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $10,000 secured bail. Sczcytkowski was charged with 13 counts of burglary and related offenses and was committed to SCI on $36,000 secured bail.
