  • Two men arrested on drug charges after Harrington traffic stop

  • The Harrington Police Department arrested two Sussex County men on drug charges following a traffic stop in Harrington on Jan. 2.
    Officers stopped a vehicle on Clark Street in the area of South Dupont Highway for a traffic violation shortly before 1 p.m. on Jan. 2. While talking to the driver, 33-year-old Timothy Murray of Milton, officers suspected Murray was under the influence and administered field tests, said Harrington Police Department spokesman Lt. Earl Brode.
    After completing the field tests, Murray was taken into custody and transported to Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital for a DUI blood test. After the test, Murray was transported to the Harrington Police Department.
    Officers then conducted a vehicle search during which they located seven alprazolam pills and drug paraphernalia. The passenger, 29-year-old Brian Laurenzi of Lewes was taken into custody after police discovered the pills and drug paraphernalia and transported to the Harrington Police Department, Brode said.
    Both Murray and Laurenzi were processed and arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2.
    Murray was charged with possess or consume any prescription drug not a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of drugs, driving without a valid license and wrong way on a one-way road. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution after failing to post a $2,000 secured bond.
    Laurenzi was charged with possess or consume any prescription drug not a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution after failing to post a $1,500 secured bond.
