  • A 43-year-old Selbyville woman died March 13 when the pickup truck she was driving ran off of Roxana Road in Frankford and rolled several times.
According to the Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 4:55 p.m. as Wendy L. Hunsberger was driving a 1997 Ford F250 pickup truck northbound on Roxana Road just south of Daisey Road. For unknown reasons, police said Hunsberger drove the vehicle off the east edge of the road. Police said Hunsberger attempted to regain control of the vehicle by turning abruptly to the left, causing the pickup to enter into the northbound lane. Police said Hunsberger then overcorrected and swerved back to the right lane, causing the truck to exit the east side of the roadway and continue in a northerly direction before the right side tires struck a stone culvert. Police said the impact forced the pickup to roll onto its right side, and it continued to roll, ultimately coming to a stop on its left side.
Police said Hunsberger, who was not properly restrained and was the lone occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Roxana Road was closed for about three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
