  • A 19-year-old Greenwood woman was arrested March 16 for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend in the neck with a steak knife.
According to the Delaware State Police, the incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. at a residence in the 21000 block of Mill Park Drive in Bridgeville. Police said the 33-year-old victim was visiting with relatives when he and his girlfriend, LaRhonda D. Jones, began arguing in the driveway. After the victim told her to leave, police said Jones retrieved a steak knife from the driver’s side of her vehicle. Police said when the victim turned away Jones stabbed him once in the back of the neck with the knife, then entered her vehicle and left.
Police said as the victim was being transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in a friend’s vehicle, they spotted a DSP trooper on a traffic stop and pulled over to report the incident. Police said the victim also informed the trooper of a threatening text message he received earlier in the day in which Jones allegedly stated she was going to kill him. The victim was then treated at Nanticoke for a severe injury.
Police said Jones was taken into custody at her Greenwood residence. She was charged with first degree attempted murder, possession of a deadline weapon during the commission of a felony, first degree reckless endangering, aggravated menacing and terroristic threatening. She was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $141,000 cash bail.
