  • A 73-year-old Frankford man died March 16 in a crash at Roxana and Powell Farm roads in Frankford.
According to the Delaware State Police, the accident occurred around 4 p.m. as 73-year-old Catharine Wills of Frankford was driving a 2012 Toyota Prius east on Powell Farm Road. Her husband, William Wills, was a passenger in the vehicle. Police said Catharine Wills failed to stop at the intersection with Roxana Road and her vehicle’s passenger side was struck by a 2006 Ford F350 driven by 51-year-old Darryl Matthews of Laurel, who was traveling north on Roxana Road.
Police said after the collision, the Toyota rotated clockwise, coming to a rest at the northeast corner of the intersection. Police said the Ford also left the northeast edge of the intersection, coming to a rest on its driver’s side.
Police said Catharine Wills was flown to Christiana Hospital where she was admitted in serious condition. William Wills was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was properly restrained at the time of the crash. Matthews, who was properly restrained, did not require medical attention.
Police said the investigation into this incident continues and no charges have been filed. The roadway was closed about three-and-a-half hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
