  • A 64-year-old Georgetown man who is a registered sex offender was sentenced to 15 years in a federal prison April 22 for receiving child pornography.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware, this is William Zimmerman’s third conviction. He was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised release following his prison sentence and he will be required to continue to register as a sex offender in any jurisdiction in which he lives, works or attends school.
Zimmerman was previously convicted in Delaware of second degree unlawful sexual contact in 1988 and possession of child pornography in 1993. He served four years in prison for the child pornography offense. Upon his release in 1997, he was required to register as a sex offender.
Zimmerman’s Georgetown home was searched by Delaware Child Predator Task Force officers on Jan. 8, 2013. The search revealed several pieces of computer equipment containing over 2,300 images of child pornography. Officials said the images featured children, mostly boys, ranging in age from infancy to mid-teen, who were posed or engaged in sexual acts with adult males.
