Last November, Shore Jazz performed “American Jazz: Inspired by Legends” at the Milton Theatre, drawing a standing-room-only audience.
Shore Jazz Productions is pleased to present The Joe Holt Trio performing “Happiness...A Thing Called Jazz,” and featuring vocalist Felicia Carter and special guest Danny Tobias on trumpet.
This talented ensemble will perform the works of such great Jazz legends like Louis Armstrong, Erroll Garner, Vince Guaraldi, Hoagy Carmichael, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin and many more.
Holt is well-known as a versatile and inspired improvisational jazz pianist.
The musical wealth of bandmates Gary Cattley on bass and local drummer Mike McShane round out this swinging rhythm section for the trio’s special guests.
“Jazz Lives” magazine describes trumpet player Danny Tobias: “Hear his lovely tone, his delicate phrasing, his singing approach to that demanding collection of tubing and metal. Dan can lead a shouting ensemble and he can zip around corners in the best Clifford Brown way."
Tobias performs regularly in New York City and around the country.
Originally from Washington, D.C. Felicia Carter has earned accolades for her “immaculate pipes” and dramatic song delivery. Felicia has been a key figure in the Baltimore Theater and music scene. Carter performed leading roles with Axis Theatre, Mongrel Theatre, was guest member for The Flying Tongues and portrayed television character Lee Bigelow on "Homicide: Life on the Street."
In 2001, Carter released her self-produced jazz recording: "In the Pink…and Songs In Blue.” She subsequently produced two shows, "Great American Songwriters" and "Great American Performers.” In 2003, Carter was composer and lyricist for "Dipteracon,” an original musical adaptation of Jean Paul Sartre's "The Flies", which premiered at LaMaMa ETC in Manhattan. In 2007, Carter performed at Jazz y Vino Festival in Chile and also collaborated with composer/bassist Amy Shook writing music and lyrics for the PBS documentary "Next Stop: Silver Spring.” Carter continues to perform at top Jazz venues in the Washington D.C. and Baltimore region.
