How often do you have the chance to support a worthy cause while sitting on a bar stool and enjoying your favorite adult beverage? Quite often, at least in the month of March, if you live in or near Georgetown.

In an effort to aid local non-profit organizations, March has been designated as “Charity Month at the Brick” by Brick Hotel owners Ed and Lynn Lester. Every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in March, a different group will receive $1 from each drink sold at the bar as well as 25 percent of the drink tips for their designated evening.

“It’s not a huge fundraiser for the groups, but it’s our way of trying to give back at least a little bit to the community and, at the same time, bring folks in to see what we have here,” says Lynn Lester. “It’s been very well received so far; everybody’s having a blast with it.

On March 29, representatives from the Sussex County Association of Realtors (SCAOR) will take over the bar at “The Brick” in an effort to raise money for the organization’s community service foundation. A trio from SCAOR will spend the evening serving drinks, making friends and benefitting one of their own causes.

Funds raised on March 29 will be used to benefit programs supported by SCAOR’s community service foundation, including the construction of a Habitat for Humanity house in Milton and another program benefitting foster children who are aging out of the system.
