A Swaam who could find himself out of a job soon, that’s what kind?
Let’s see if he can get back on track this week as our local schools tackle conference play.
Sussex Central at Milford: This contest is probably one of the most important of the week.
Both Milford and Central feature identical 1-2 records, and the squads each know their best hope of making the playoffs is winning the North.
Right now, Central is in better shape as it begins North play, while Milford is already 1-1, but that does not matter yet.
Look for the host Bucs to attack Central through the air with passing routes designed to get senior Jerrell Allen open deep and watch for the Knights to counter on the turf with their quick running backs Brandon Lewis and Kevin Guthrie.
I’ll give the edge to Central here, but only slightly, 27-20.
Woodbridge at Indian River: No game should be counted on as an easy win, but if one lies on IR’s schedule so far, this is it.
The Indians simply have too many athletes for the Blue Raiders and as such should win this one rather handily. I’ll say 34-13.
Sussex Tech at Cape Henlopen: How well does former Sussex Tech now Cape Henlopen head coach Bill Collick know his old team?
Is this Cape Henlopen team different than the one in years gone by and really as good as it has played so far?
Will Sussex Tech play like the team that routed Milford and Laurel in its last two games or the one that was run over in week one?
So many questions could be answered Friday at Cape, and I’ll say Tech makes the biggest statement in a 35-21 win.
