On a day where heavy wind alone was causing enough problems between power outages and downed trees causing power outages, the winds on Wednesday helped to whip the flames at a second fire at Irish Eyes, on Anglers Road in Lewes.

A New Year’s Eve fatal pedestrian crash brought the total number of people killed in Delaware in 2008 to 122.  That means four more people lost their lives in traffic crashes on Delaware roadways last year than in 2007, when 118 people died as a result of vehicle crashes. Those traffic deaths reflected a 20 percent drop in fatalities, however, from the previous year (2006). 

Gregory Fuller Sr. is officially Sussex County’s newest register of wills.Fuller, 46, of Lincoln was sworn in Tuesday morning, Dec. 23, 2008, and will oversee the office responsible for administration of all estates probated in Sussex County.

With the announcement by Governor Minner of the selection of Greg Fuller to serve out the unexpired term of Register of Wills, genuine concern over the effective functioning of the office and the service provided to the citizens of Sussex County has arisen, at least in the eyes of incoming county councilman Sam Wilson (R-Greenwood).

With the demand for emergency services on the rise, members of Sussex County Council and EMS officials were on hand last week to open a logistics center in the Villages of Cinderberry. The facility, which is located at 8 Mulberry Lane in Georgetown, will allow SCEMS to meet the current demand for emergency services, as well as future expansion, EMS officials said.
