The Freeman Stage at Bayside continues its second season with a performance by the First State Ballet. The performance will take place on Aug. 27 at 7 p.m. at The Freeman Stage at Bayside in Fenwick Island. The free show is open to the public.
“We’re thrilled to be able to present the First State Ballet on our stage,” said Patti Grimes, Vice President of Outreach and Programming for the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation. “It’s great to be able to see the Ballet outside of Wilmington, and particularly our state ballet. They not only keep the great dance tradition alive, but they are committed to fostering an appreciation for their dancers and audiences, which fits right into our hopes that The Freeman Stage will do the same not just for dance, but for all the arts.”
The Wilmington-based First State Ballet is a professional company of bright young dancers performing under the artistic direction of Kirov-trained Pasha Kambalov. The company performs full-length works and mixed-repertory programs throughout the state and beyond. They also commission new choreography from internationally recognized choreographers and present ballet training.
Regular weekly performances at The Freeman Stage will continue throughout the year. In its second season, The Freeman Stage will continue to present theatre and musical performances, dance, festivals, and children’s art workshops. Additionally, the 2009 season will include arts Camps for Kids and a variety of new performances for adults and kids alike.
