The businesses at Nassau Commons are partnering with several organizations for a block party Saturday, June 26, to benefit Read Aloud Delaware.
Nassau Commons is located on Nassau Commons Boulevard between Route 1 and Route 9 and across from Nassau Valley Vineyards.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Block Party will feature food and drink, live music from members of the Funsters, activities for children, registration door prizes, exhibits and demonstrations. The registration booth and many activities will be centered in front of Atlantic Millwork and Cabinetry. Surrounding the registration area will be exhibitors from Read Aloud Delaware, Lewes Public Library, Lewes Volunteer Fire Department, Coastal Concerts, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer and the Food Bank of Delaware.
Those attending are encouraged to bring new or gently used children’s books for Read Aloud Delaware, an organization that coordinates volunteers who read books to children one-on-one to help them build their reading skills.
Tickets for a Read Aloud Delaware Gift Basket will be sold during the block party. Items in the gift basket include two tickets for the Movies at Midway, a $35 Jiffy Lube gift certificate, $30 worth of Moe Bucks for Moe’s Southwest Grill, two $25 gift certificates for Big Fish Grill or the Summer House restaurant, a night at the Hampton Inn between September 2010 and May 2011, a stainless steel BBQ set with wooden handles and a $25 Visa gift card from WSFS Bank, and a $25 Giant Gift Card.
Kickn’ Chicken will be on hand with samples of their food, Nassau Valley Vineyards will offer tours along with samples of their sangria, wine and grape juice and Atlantic Refrigeration will be giving away free snow cones. At Atlantic Millwork and Cabinetry, people can try their hand at sand art while checking out the company’s bargain block and giveaway items.
