“We started out thinking that the hardest part would be fundraising,” said Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce Parade Chair Ray Hopkins. “But we’ve been delightfully surprised at how much we received… all of our expenses will be covered through sponsorship.”
In a tough economic year for businesses, it is a testament to the hard work of Hopkins, Jeanne Dukes, who he called his “co-chair,” and the seven members on the planning committee, particularly given the new direction the parade has taken in recent years, adding several large Christmas-themed balloons.
