The 16th Annual CAT COUNTRY/WMDT-47 “Feed-A-Friend” Marathon was held December 2-4, 2009 and this year 26,252 cans and other non-perishable food items were pledged by listeners and area businesses to benefit several area food banks and food pantries.
“This year’s total represents an increase of almost fourteen percent from last year’s total, which means more food for the organizations we support,” said General Manager Joe Beail.
Food banks and pantries supported by “Feed-A-Friend” include: the Salvation Army, Dagsboro Church of God, Salisbury Outreach Services, Millsboro 7th Day Adventist Church, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office/SANTA House, Christian Storehouse, Wesley United Methodist Church, and Cape Henlopen Food Basket.
“We couldn’t do Feed-A-Friend without the support of our Sponsors, who provide dropoff locations for donations,” Beail added.
This year’s sponsors included: the Bank of Delmarva; Applebee’s in Salisbury; Suburban Propane in Millsboro and Fruitland; Hebron Savings Bank; Ladies Workout Express of Millsboro; Holly KIA in Selbyville; The Hen House in Laurel; Truitt’s Carpet in Millsboro; Hocker’s SuperCenter in Clarksville and G&E Supermarket in Ocean View; and Hertrich Pontiac/Buick GMC and Frederick Ford in Seaford.
