Unite Sussex (www.unitesussex.org) will be hosting the second of three Town Hall style meetings on Thursday, Nov. 12. The forum is being held at the Cheer Center (302-854-9500) in Georgetown. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the meeting is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
Unite Sussex is a cooperation of community-minded people who seek to foster a collaboration between government agencies, non-profit organizations, churches, and other advocacy groups to bring hope to those how are struggling. The goal is to bring all of these groups together, along with those who are in need, in multiple town hall meetings strategically placed throughout Sussex County.
At the meeting you can expect to see many of your local and state elected officials who will be able to share what they see to be needy areas in our communities, in addition to Lt. Gov. Matt Denn, who is scheduled to speak at the meeting as well.
You can also expect to see more than 30 advocacy groups and non-profit organizations (Catholic Charities, Delaware Hospice, United Way, Churches, etc.) on hand to share with you their resources.
These groups will have display tables loaded with resources and representatives to answer any questions. We also welcome anyone from the community to come and share the needs that they see in the community.
"Individually, the needs in Sussex County can seem too large a task to overcome. By getting everyone together and focusing the efforts, people’s lives can be changed. It is time to Unite Sussex," reads a Unite Sussex press release from Tuesday.
