JOHN J. KLINK
John J. Klink, 42, of Millville, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009, at the Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., surrounded by his loving family.

Klink was a 1984 graduate of Indian River High School, he then served in United States Army for three years. He was formerly employed as a Police Officer, Correctional Officer and Security Officer.

He was an active member of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company and currently serving as a Delaware State Fire Policeman. He was a past member of the Bower Beach Volunteer Fire Company, where he was formerly Ambulance Captain and Rescue Lieutenant. He was also past President of the Camden Volunteer Fire Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and riding motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Karl and Mabel Klink.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda (Lane) Klink; his son, Andrew Michael Klink; stepson, Christopher Lee Baker; mother, Marjorie Bunting of Dagsboro; his father, Karl M. Klink, Jr., of Frankford; three brothers, Joseph Klink of Frankford, Karl Klink, III and his wife Melanie and their children Kacey and Kara Klink of Frankford, Phillip Klink and his wife Shannon and their children Phillip and Taylor Klink of New Castle; mother and father in law, Harold and July Lane of Woodside; brother and sister in law, Harold Lane, Jr., and his wife Paula and their children, Amy and Jacob Lane, all of Virginia; many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A funeral service was held Thursday, February 19 at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Ocean View

Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in John’s memory to the Scholarship Fund for John’s son Andrew Klink, c/o any Delaware County Bank.

JOSEPH EMORY DOWNS
Joseph Emory Downs, 60, of Selbyville, passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 at home. 

Downs enjoyed camping, playing horseshoes, and country music.  He was quick to help you if you needed a hand.  He loved being with his family more than anything in the world. 

His parents Francis E. and Margaret E. Hamblin Downs predecease him and a brother Cecil Downs in 2005. 

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Beverly P. Downs; sons, Joseph Richardson of Salisbury Md., Paul Downs, and wife Lori of Salisbury Md., and Richard Downs and wife Jamie of Laurel; daughters, Michelle Haldeman and husband Brian of Seaford, and Nicole Baker and husband BJ of Georgetown; sisters, Savannah Serman and husband Dennis of Selbyville, Cheryl Fisher and husband Kevin of Millsboro; and sister-in-law, Faye Downs of Selbyville; seven grandchildren, Brian, Danielle, Gena, Kyle, Kara, and Chloe;  two great-grandchildren, Shawn and Makala;  and a host of extended family and friends. 

Services were held on Thursday, February 19, at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro. 

Pastor Bob Hudson officiated. 

Burial in Roxana Cemetery, Roxana. 

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice 100 Patriot Way Milford, De.  19963.

RAYNOR N. GRANT
Raynor N. Grant, 96, of Millville, formerly of Victor, Montana,  passed away peacefully on Friday February 13, 2009 at the Harbor Healthcare Nursing Home in Lewes.

She was born in Providence, Rhode Island, daughter to the late James and Bertha (Pemberton) Oldfield.

She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Shelton and Linda Regan and grandson, Christopher Regan.

Services were private.

ALMA J. CRUMP
Alma J. Crump, 88, of Millsboro, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at her daughters home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Upland, Pa., daughter to the late Elmer and May (Longhurst) Johnson. She was a Export Documentation Clerk for the Film Department of the DuPont Company in Wilmington, retiring after 30 years of service.

She was a longtime member of the Reformed Episcopal Church. She enjoyed genealogy, reading,  gardening and spending time with her family. Crump was a two-time survivor of breast cancer.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert G. Crump; her sister, Elsie Goebel; and grandson, James Alan Unruh.

She is survived by two daughters, Emily Blanchard of Georgetown, Roberta “Bobbie” Unruh and her husband Alan of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Kay Rabe and her husband Tim of Wilmington, Robert Knox and his wife Virginia of Middletown, Deborah Miller and her husband Paul of Hockessin, Daniel Unruh and his wife Melissa of Dumfries, Va.; seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 23, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck.     Interment at the Silverbrook Cemetery,  Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Alma’s memory to, Long Neck U.M. Church, 32051 Long Neck Rd, Millsboro, DE. 19966.

LAWRENCE G. CLEARY
Lawrence G. Cleary, 77, of Millsboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years; seven children; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #28 of Millsboro and VFW Post #7234 of Ocean View.

He joined the US Marine Corps July 1948 and served through October 1951. He was a decorated Marine (Semper Fi). He fought in the Korean War Campaign and was one the “Chosen Few”.

He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Services were held Tuesday February 24, at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services Long Neck.

Burial with Military Honors at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

DOROTHY FREEMAN SHORT
Dorothy Freeman Short, 83, of Georgetown, died at home, Friday, February 20, 2009.  

Short was born in Townsend, daughter of the late Frank Freeman and Helen Fraizer Freeman.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Georgetown Wesleyan Church where she loved teaching Sunday school and helping with Bible School.  Her family was her first love she was a devoted wife and mother.    She loved flowers and took care of many people in the community. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Howard Short; and four children,  Linda Short of Bear, Howard Short of Houston, Tx.; Joanna Schlabaugh of Virginia Beach, Va., and Amy Short of Millsboro; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be on Thursday, February 26, at 1:00 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown. 

Friends may call one hour prior. 

Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.

HENRY J. “HANK” HUFF
Henry J. “Hank” Huff, 43, of Milton, a hero with a heart of gold, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 20, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born on April 29, 1965, Hank was the youngest of five children born to Patricia (Marvel) Huff Stenger and the late Richard M. Huff, Sr.

Huff was married to Michelle Kandravi in August 1988 and they were blessed with two sons: Joshua Henry, 18 and Zachary John, 15.

He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend.  He was a 4-wheeler and train enthusiast and was well known in the area for his memorable fireworks displays throughout the years.

He especially loved the Boy Scouts Organization, and had been active in both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for the past twenty years.  He enjoyed the memories made with his sons whether it be camping, whitewater rafting or other scouts activities that they were involved in.  He had served as Assistant Scout Master of Troop #198 in Milton.

Huff was a member of Goshen U.M. Church in Milton and was very involved with the preservation efforts at Sand Hill Church in Georgetown.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his mother, Patricia Huff Stenger; two brothers, Richard M. “Rick” Huff, Jr. (Diane), Douglas M. Huff (Susan); two sisters, Jerilyn P. Huff and Jocelyn Huff Godwin (Hal); father and mother in law, William Kandravi, Sr., (Sharon); sister in law and brother in law: Tammy Abele (Andy); brother in law and sister in law, Billy Kandravi Jr., (Shannon); several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved dogs, Toby and Shadow.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 28, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown where friends may call Friday evening from 7 – 9pm. 

Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.

DOROTHY A. “DOT” FOPMA
Dorothy A. “Dot” Fopma, 78, of Georgetown, formerly of Lanham and Ocean City, Md., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 21, 2009. 

She was born on April 4, 1930 in Grandville, Mich., daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Huizenga) Vredevoogd.  She was a member of St. Matthews By-The Sea United Methodist Church in Fenwick Island, and attended Central Worship Center in Laurel. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Orval Carl Fopma; four sons, Randall J. Fopma and his wife Cyndee of Hudsen, FL, Steven Carl Fopma and his friend Ann Marie Papa of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, Jeffrey Scott Fopma and his wife Reda Jane of Virginia Beach, Va. and Michael S. Fopma and his wife Melody of Olney, Md.; three sisters, Ethel Teer of Durham, NC, Betty Zwemer of Vero Beach, FL. and Carolyn Dykstra of Dearborn, MI; five grandchildren, David, Julie, Craig, Tiffany and Skyler Fopma. 

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, at St. Matthews By The-Sea United Methodist Church, 1000 Coastal Hwy., Fenwick Island.
