Upcoming events at Killens Pond State Park

Killens Pond State Park, 5025 Killens Pond Rd., in Felton, will host the following events in the coming months:

Healthy Living Hike – 1 p.m. Sundays, Jan. 10, 17, 24 and 31
The New Year is here and everyone is trying to stick with their resolution to stay fit and get healthy. Join us in a healthy hike through the park trails. Free. Call 302-284-4299 for registration.

Crazy Kids Crafts - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16
Are the kids going crazy in the house? Bring them to the Nature Center to use up some of their energy. The kids can explore the center and take part in a variety of crafts and experiments that are sure to keep them entertained. Cost is $4 per participant and includes a hayride.

Hot Cocoa Hayrides - 5 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 30 and Feb. 27
Enjoy a beautiful tour of the park’s forests and fields on one of our winter hayrides. Private hayrides may also be arranged by calling 302-284-4299. Meet at the new Nature Center. Hot cocoa will be available after each hayride. Cost is $4 per adult; $2 per child under 12.

Full Moon Hikes – 6 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 30 and Feb. 27
Explore the mysteries of the night and discover all the animals that are out and about in our pond and woods. We will travel the trails and try to call in some of our silent hunters of the sky. Meet at the new Nature Center. Cost is $2 per participant; pre-registration is required.

Winter Fest – 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30
The winter is in full swing and the festivities have just begun. Join the park naturalists for a fun day of winter activities including winter crafts, a hayride and a hike. Cost is $4 per participant.

Something Sweet – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and we are ready to help. Find great ways to enjoy the holiday, including candle making, chocolate tasting and crafts. Bring a blanket to snuggle up with a loved one during our winter hayride. Warm up back at the Nature Center with some hot cocoa afterward. Cost is $5 per participant.

Maple Madness – 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27
Enjoy this sweet program as we learn how maple syrup is made. Bring a blanket to snuggle in while we take a hayride to a sugar maple tree in the park. Learn how a tree is tapped, then travel back to Nature Center where we will enjoy some sweet treats.
