Delaware State University will honor the memory of service men and women who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, on the school's campus, 1200 Dupont Highway, Dover.

The event is part of a nationwide effort to remember and pay respect to the more than 6,200 men and women who died in service to their country. More than 140 schools throughout the country are taking part in the event.

A roll call of the names of the fallen soldiers will begin at 7 a.m. on the second floor of the Martin Luther King Student Center. The reading of names is expected to take 8 hours and will be done in chronological order.

At 1:30 p.m. there will be a break in the reading for a Remembrance Ceremony and at 2 p.m. a national moment of silence. Afterward the reading of names will continue.

“We wanted to rally campus communities across the nation to send a powerful message to the troops currently serving that their peers have not forgotten their sacrifices, or those of the fallen,” Brett Morris, the National Roll Call coordinator, said in a press release.

The event is free and everyone is invited to attend.

For more information, contact Wendelin Henry, DSU veterans affairs coordinator, at 302-857-6376 or whenry@desu.edu, or Carlton Adams, DSU FORCES advisor, at ceadams11@students.desu.edu.
