The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition announced the Kim Miller 5K is slated to begin at 9 a.m. April 1 at 16 Mile Brewery, 413 S. Bedford St., Georgetown.

The event, hosted in memory of Kim Miller, is organized by Lisa Locklear and presented by 16 Mile Brewery. In 2016, the 5K generated $3,200 to support the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s local programs and services for those facing a diagnosis or recurrence of breast cancer.

The Kim Miller 5K is held in memory of Kim Miller, who was diagnosed with stage-four breast cancer in May 2010 at age 27. She died October 2011.

The after-party will feature live music, craft beer and a food truck.

Race registration opens at 8 a.m., and the race will kick off at 9 a.m. Drinks and awards will begin at 11 a.m. Registration is available at seashorestriders.com for $25 before March 30 and $30 the day of the event.

A portion of proceeds from the Kim Miller 5K will benefit DBCC’s programs, which increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms and provide support and resources to women and men in the local community who are newly diagnosed or facing recurrence of breast cancer. Additional proceeds will benefit Relay for Life.
