Tidewater Utilities Inc., a water utility serving more than 43,000 businesses and residences throughout Delaware, recently honored young students for their water-related projects in the 2017 Sussex County Science Fair.

Tidewater has participated in this event for the past 17 years, judging and awarding a student with The Best Water-Related Project, presented each year at the science fair.

First-place winner Gabrielle McCormick, Sussex Academy, grade eight, received a $300 gift card for her project, “What’s Up With Your Water.” Gabrielle’s teacher is Lauren Hvorecny.

Second-place winner Trent Sapna, Sussex Academy, grade eight, received a $250 gift card for his project, “Water Works.” Trent’s teacher is Lauren Hvorecny.

Third-place winner Melanie Ceylan, Millsboro Middle School, grade seven, received a $150 gift card for her project, “Modeling Water Evaporation vs. Surface Area.” Melanie’s teacher is Lorraine Jordin.
