The Delaware Department of Transportation announced that with the completion of the Thompsonville Grade Separated Intersection Project, DelDOT will be implementing safety improvements at the nearby intersection of state Route 1 and Tub Mill Pond Road/New Wharf Road.
DelDOT will implement additional turning movement restrictions as part of the recent construction project.
Motorists are restricted from turning left on state Route 1 northbound to Tub Mill Pond Road and are restricted from going straight or turning left from New Wharf Road westbound. These restrictions will remain and become permanent. Additional restrictions will be implemented, and motorists will not be able to go straight or turn left from Tub Mill Pond Road eastbound. The restricted movements will be implemented with signing, striping and tubular markers.
The work is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 1, pending weather. Lane closures will occur on state Route 1 northbound/southbound and Tub Mill Pond Road/New Wharf Road.
Motorists should expect delays for the installation of the signing, pavement markings and tubular markers in order to complete the work.
Motorists should be aware that construction personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to the travel lanes.
