AddieRose Best, a senior at Conrad School of Science, received her second Jefferson Lead360 Award at a ceremony held April 12.

Best’s project, Adding Kanz 4 Kidz, now in its third year, has collected about 443 pounds of canned food goods for hungry children and families in Delaware.

Best is an avid environmental activist, who has been volunteering in Hockessin and surrounding areas since she was 5 years old. During her high school career, Best has accrued almost 950 hours of community service. She has been a volunteer counselor at Ashland Nature Center for the past five summers and has done service for Red Clay Creek and White Clay Creek.

Best also is the assistant site-manager for the beach cleanup in Rehoboth for the second year, in her 13th year of participation in that project. Best has also held an internship at Indian River Life-Saving Station in Rehoboth for the past two summers.

Upon graduation, Best will further her studies at Saint Mary's Honors College of Maryland in the fall 2017 semester on a scholarship.
