The New Century Club donated its building at 10 W. Pine St., Georgetown, to the Indian River School District.

The district officially took ownership of the property after settlement proceedings July

19.

The building is the former home of the Georgetown Public Library and more recently was utilized as office space for the Sussex County Democratic Party. The Indian River Board of Education will explore future uses for the property.

Founded in the late-1800s, the New Century Club is one of the first women’s clubs in the U.S. and is dedicated to social improvement and charity.

The Indian River School District thanked the New Century Club for its donation and the Haller & Hudson law firm for managing the transfer of the property.
