Ninety-six golfers teed off for a cause July 28, participating in the fifth annual Delmarva Christian Schools Golf Classic held at Heritage Shores Club in Bridgeville.
The support of 30 local sponsors assisted in the success of the tournament, raising $17,000 towards the DCS Accessible Tuition Program, which provides the opportunity for more families to access a christ-centered education for their students by calculating a tuition rate that matches each family’s unique financial situation.
The golfers enjoyed a breakfast and lunch provided by Heritage Shores, a silent auction and mulligan sales raising over $2,500 and an awards ceremony for the group and individual winners of the day.
The winners of this year’s tournament, with a score of 55, were Thomas Perry, Olivia Perry, Bob Bennett and Matt Perry. Coming in second place with a score of 57 were Chris Theis, Kris Smith, Eddie Downes and Tony Plummer. Third place was awarded to Dan Schlabach, Harold Sylvester, Adam Troyer and Dave Miller, with a score of 57.
There were three individual winners including longest drive on the ninth hole by Olivia Perry; closest to the pin on the seventh hole by Jay Mervine at 17 feet, 4 inches; and closest to the pin on the 15th hole by Joe Moore at 3 feet, one-half inches.
