The 18th annual Chestertown RiverArts Annual Studio Tour is set for Oct. 21-22 and Oct. 28-29 in Chestertown, Pennsylvania.
This free, self-guided tour on the Eastern Shore of Maryland will include about 50 artists, who will invite guests into their studios to talk about their art, demonstrate their techniques and offer original art for sale at studio prices.
Styles will range from traditional to avant-garde, expressed in various media that include painting, photography, sculpture, metal work, pottery, fiber, woodcraft, jewelry, furniture, glass and more. The venues vary from gallery and independent studios in small art complexes to artists’ homes — some detached from the main house and some inside the house itself.
Visitors are encouraged to start their tour at the RiverArts Gallery, 315 High St., with an exhibit representing work by the various Studio Tour artists. The exhibit will remain on display through Nov. 29.
Combine the Studio Tour with other including Downrigging Weekend, held Oct. 28-29. Chestertown’s schooner, Sultana, is joined by many historic tall ships and Chesapeake Buy-
Boats. The art studios are within walking distance of the ships. For more, visit sultanaeducation.org.
The Olde Kent Quilters Guild Show and Market includes about 60 quilts of all colors, shapes, and sizes at the Kent Center, 215 Scheeler Road. The show is open Oct. 28-29.
